Maison Nazanin - Royal hunt - 100% Silk Scarf

The scarf is based on two Persian miniature paintings, contrived in this design as a centrefold of two pages, of a hunting scene featuring princes and noblemen.

The two pages come from the Divan (Collected Works) of Jami, the celebrated Persian poet of the 15th Century. Aq Quyunlu rulers, who held sway over much of Persia in their heyday, much admired the work of this poet, who dedicated one of his works to the Aq Quyunlu sultan Ya'qub and his brother Yusuf. The manuscript is signed by a member of the renowned al‑Khwarazmi family of calligraphers, patronized by both Qara Quyunlu and Aq Quyunlu who ruled the cities of Baghdad, Shiraz, and Tabriz in the 15th century. The complete manuscript, from which come the two sheets that form part of this scarf's design, is in the possession of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York City.
