Nazanin was born in Iran in 1975. She studied software programming, and art and architectural design in Tehran, before moving to Italy (and became an Italian citizen) in 2003 where she took two further degrees in industrial and product design in Milan. In Italy, she set up and ran a company specializing in product inspection and standards compliance in the import-export business. She later moved to London and became active in the design world, working with Moritz Waldemeyer on lighting design. She is also an accomplished artist. Her work has been exhibited at the Royal Academy of Arts.
Adam Bennett
Adam was born in in London in 1954. He trained initially as an architect at Cambridge University, but switched to philosophy and economics and continued his studies at the London School of Economics. In his retirement, he spent six years at Oxford University and also served for many years on various committees at the Royal Academy of Arts, where he got to know numerous artists – including Nazanin.
Our Mission
Born in a time of transformation, Nazanin Farahbod’s journey has been one of resilience, reinvention, and artistry. She grew up in a world that changed overnight, shaping her perspective and fuelling her creative expression. From Tehran to Milan, and now London, every place she has called home has left its mark, inspiring a deep connection between memory, art, and design.
Scarf Production
Our scarves have been designed for Maison Nazanin based on selected Persian miniature paintings created mainly during the Safavid Era (1501-1736). They cover many themes, from Love, War, Nature, Beauty, and Fantasy. They are meant primarily to be worn as scarves - "wearable art" - but they can also instead be displayed as art on a wall.
Nazanin Farahbod has also reinterpreted a select group of Persian miniature drawings dating from the Safavid Era, to create new artworks. They are meant primarily to be hung on a wall as art, but they can also be worn as scarves. Each scarf is printed on pure Habotai silk as a limited edition of 50 on this silk, and comes with a card signed by the artist.
Brand Identity
Maison Nazanin is more than a brand; it is a celebration of heritage and modernity, a story woven into silk. Each scarf is a reflection of moments lived, places seen, and emotions felt—an intimate blend of culture, experience, and craftsmanship. Inspired by the art and landscapes that have shaped her path, Nazanin translates memories into textures and movement into motifs, creating pieces that are both timeless and deeply personal.
With the precision of an industrial designer, the vision of an artist, and the discipline of a craftsman, she brings her worlds together to create wearable art. Every scarf is thoughtfully designed, blending traditional techniques with contemporary innovation. The result is not just an accessory but a meaningful piece—one that carries a story and invites the wearer to make it their own.
At its core, Maison Nazanin embraces the belief that art should be experienced, not just admired. It is a bridge between past and present, between nostalgia and possibility. Every piece is an expression of a journey—yours, mine, and the many untold stories waiting to be discovered.
Maison Nazanin—where art meets experience, and every thread tells a story.
